Asian American Studies at the University Level
[ send me this paper ]
This 5 page
report discusses the historical, political, and social
development of Asian American studies at the university and
college level. As with virtually any academic pursuit, the world
of Asian American studies has developed, changed, redefined
itself and continued to move forward as its own unique,
educational discipline. The movement supporting ethnic and
women's studies bean in the late 1960s as university people --
students, faculty, and staff, began to recognize that university
curricula generally did not consider or appropriately respond to
the diversity of American society, especially racial minorities,
women, and the working class. Bibliography lists 6 sources.

Assessing and Enhancing Research Design Validity
[ send me this paper ]
An 8 page
paper discussing descriptive research design. Research in education is unique among
disciplines employing empirical methods in that it so frequently addresses issues that are
mutable according to populations, administrative structure, external societal conditions or
other qualities. Well-designed research can stand as relevant for decades, but lesser
efforts may or may not be useful in practice at any time. The purpose here is to evaluate
the methodology described in this paper, evaluating it on several points. Those points
include internal and external validity, construct validity and statistical conclusion validity.
Bibliography lists 1 source.

Assessing Quality in Distance Learning at the Graduate Level
[ send me this paper ]
A 7 page
paper discussing the need for quality assessment in Internet graduate programs. Most evaluation
of college programs available online has been centered on economics and the ability to reach a
greater number of students. There has been much less focus on the quality of the education
gained through the approach. A University of Illinois study has determined that the quality of
education gained through an online-only approach is of less value than that gained in the
traditional educational setting. Bibliography lists 8 sources.
