“A Raisin in the Sun”
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page overview of this play first performed on Broadway in 1959. The author emphasizes the familial relationships which unfold in the play. The contention is presented that a black female serves as the primary head of the fictional family presented in the film just as black females often serve as the heads of real life families today and yesterday. The lesson that eventually emerges, however, is that the love and strength of the family’s matriarch can ultimately pay off in the maturation of other family members.
